My name is Darren and I am located in Lincolnsire which is situated in the East Anglian area of the UK.
I bought my first Budgie from a local pet shop around 7 years ago, he is called Joey. It took me around a month to get him to come out of his cage and it was a real struggle. I thought that there must be an easier way to get a tame Budgie so I did some research and decided to go ahead and breed some birds myself and to try to tame up the youngsters from an early age.
Right from the start of my first breeding season I had a great time, it seems that the young budgies are so willing to learn, I took quite a lot of video footage, most of which has ended up on Youtube!
I started out with a small avairy outside, then moved on to a large avairy outside, now I have moved house and have a brick built bird room that is at the back of my garage. I have tried breeding in an aviary, in breeding cages and in normal pet type cages. I have also bred at all different times of the year so in the space of 3 years I have gained a lot of experience in a relatively short space of time!
It can be a really messy job breeding Budgies but it is so rewarding, you just dont know what colours or sex the babies will be and they grow so quick, by the age of just 4 weeks they are fully feathered!
Most of the birds that I have bred over this time have been sold on to people wanting a really tame baby Budgie without having to tame it themselves and I have had lots of happy customers.
I have used my videos on Youtube to help advertise my birds and over the last 2 years I have seen my daily views go from just a few views per day to over 450 views per day.
Now with over 105,000 total video views, it seems that people just love watching Budgie videos!

Also, for the last year I have been lucky enough to have played host to a colony of Goldfinches in my front garden. I have seen the elders have chicks and bring them to the feeding station, it has been amazing to see the young birds get all of their markings.
